JRun Application Deployment

JRun applications are most easily deployed in the form of EAR or WAR files. See the following links for more information on these application deployment types.

To deploy your WAR/EAR archive on your JRun hosting, upload it to your httpdocs folder and then email auto-support@firstserv.com to let us know where your file is and what context root you would like it to have.

JRun JDBC Datasources and Connection Pooling

You can configure JDBC data sources and your connection pooling settings by editing the file:

/server/SERVER-INF/jrun-resources.xml

Within this file there is an example JDBC datasource which you can use as a template for your own database connections.

MySQL driver

If you require a connection string to your MySQL database use this format:

driver: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
url: jdbc:mysql://www.foobar.com:3306/DATABASENAME

DATABASENAME is the database name, e.g. CustomerListingDB

Take particular care that you close all database connections that you open. Not closing connections to databases is very likely to crash your application.

JRun stop/ start facility

Firstserv is responsible for the quality of the physical hosting and the stability of the JRun application server. Firstserv is not responsible for the stability of your own JRun server instance, over which you have control.

The stop/ start facility will allow you to stop and start your virtual JRun server via a web browser. Please check correspondence to find the URL you need to visit, the login and password. For security reasons we do not provide this URL in our public support pages.

Control Panel Details

The Plesk control panel allows you to manage files, POP accounts, configure services and databases, and view usage reports. Please check correspondence to find the URL you need to visit, the login and password. For security reasons we cannot provide this URL in our public pages.

As users are located on a shared server, no access is provided to the JMC Admin console.
