Make better use of your resources. Get swift, powerful, fully scalable and cost-effective computing capacity on demand with Hyper-V and Virtuozzo technology from Firstserv.
Virtualisation technology allows multiple computer operating systems to share the same hardware. Each instance is known as a virtual machine.
Each virtual machine is securely isolated from other machines, and behaves as if it was running on standalone hardware. The benefits include better utilisation of hardware, improved user control and, with Hyper-V, automatic failover. Virtualisation equates to lower cost and improved reliability.
Firstserv offers two types of virtualisation technology:
Windows 2008 Hyper-V
Our Hyper-V platform is configured to be highly reliable. Hyper-V is a full virtualisation platform, which means that there is a new, separate, install of the operating system for each instance. Each one is patched and run separately. Users have their own control panel and administrator log in.
|
Parallels Virtuozzo
With Virtuozzo, there is only one instance of the operating system on the hardware, and each virtual server shares that operating system. Users still have their own control panel and administrator access, but patching is performed centrally, and updates all containers at the same time. As a result, hardware resources are used very economically, meaning lower cost.
